Kylian Mbappe, the captain of France, stated on Thursday that while elite football players don’t necessarily play a lot of games, they do require more time off due to their hectic schedules, which provide little time for rest.

“Recuperation is more important than the quantity of games. In Poland, where France kicks off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Ukraine on Friday, Mbappe told reporters, “We just need a bit more rest, time off for our bodies to regenerate and recover from the number of matches we have to play.”
